Key Requirements
- Age: Must be 50 years or older at the time of application [1.1.2].
- Financial Proof (Standard O and O-A Visas): You must show one of the following:
- A deposit of at least 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account [1.1.2] (seasoned for 2 months prior to application).
- A monthly pension or income of at least 65,000 THB [1.1.2].
- A combination of an annual pension and bank deposit totaling 800,000 THB [1.1.3].
- Health Insurance (O-A and O-X only): Mandatory qualifying health insurance is required if applying for the 1-year O-A visa from abroad, or the 5-to-10-year O-X visa [1.1.3]. The basic Non-Immigrant O (applied for in-country) generally bypasses this [1.1.3].
- Background Checks: O-A and O-X visas require a police clearance and a medical certificate [1.1.3].
Visa Types & Stay
- Non-Immigrant O: Initial 90-day stay, extendable to 1 year inside Thailand [1.1.3].
- Non-Immigrant O-A: 1-year validity, multiple entry. Requires application from your home country [1.1.3].
- Non-Immigrant O-X: 5-year validity (renewable for another 5), available to citizens of 18 specific countries. Requires a much higher financial deposit of 3 million THB [1.1.3].
